Dr Andreas Schenk first qualified as a medical doctor in 1992 and as a specialist psychiatrist in 2000. Since then he has gained extensive and diverse experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in a variety of settings within the UK and abroad. He has successfully completed Parts I and II of the USMLE (United States Medical Licensure) examinations and working outside of the UK has given him valuable cross cultural perspectives on medical practice . Between 2002 and 2005 he was appointed as Consultant Psychiatrist in charge of a specialised inpatient psychotherapy unit at TARA Hospital in Johannesburg. He then held a substantive post as Consultant Psychiatrist at the Dorset Healthcare Trust before being appointed as Staff Consultant Psychiatrist at the Priory Hospital Southampton in 2007. In April 2013 he established practice as a Psychiatric Consultant at the Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital. Dr Schenk has many years experience in assessing clients for Occupational Health purposes and in October 2019 he was appointed as Advisor in Psychiatry to the Civil Aviation Authority.

With his broad range of training and expertise Dr Schenk can advise on medication, psychological therapy as well as other effective avenues to recovery. He has particularly enjoyed lecturing and examining other doctors specialising in psychiatry and general practice.He is on the Specialist Register of the GMC and is Section 12 Approved. He has a particular interest in Occupational Health for safety critical workers and has been instructed to complete hundreds of medico-legal reports as an Expert Witness.
